Knitting with Hand-dyed Yarn
1:00pm-4:00pm
$40.00
Class Description: Get lots of easy ideas for using had-dyed yarns in ways that will show them off at their best. Learn how to use simple techniques that give you control of the beautiful hand-dyed yarns you love. You will learn to understand the way these yarns are made, why they do what they do and how you can predict the outcome. The different types of variegated yarns will be explained as well as how to identify yours. You will see dozens of swatches or garments that show not only pattern stitches that work well for these yarns, but other ways to show the yarns to their best. The emphasis is on combining hand-dyed yarns with other accenting yarns and using simple, easy patterns. The easiest knitting will look so dramatic with these yarns.
Skill Level: Intermediate knitting skills. Students should be comfortable knitting socks with double-pointed needles (two circulars and magic loop method also welcome).

Instructor: Lorna Miser
Long, long ago I was a skilled seamstress. I loved to sew and design clothing. Then I switched to knitting, spinning and dyeing my own yarns. With those skills I created Lorna’s Laces back in 1986. I sold that company in 2003. Since then I’ve been designing knitwear for every yarn company and magazine you can name, as well as writing my first book. “Faith, Hope, Love, Knitting” is now available! “The Knitter’s Guide to Hand Dyed and Variegated Yarns” was released on November 16, 2010.
