Get Acquainted with the Spinning Wheel

New to the spinning wheel or just wondering if it is right for you?  This class will introduce you to spinning yarn on the wheel or just reacquaint you with your old friend.  The goal is to learn what the wheel can do for you.  This amazing tool can allow you to spin almost any kind of yarn.  We will demystify the parts of the wheel and discover how to spin the yarn you want.

Class Description: Students will learn to prepare wool and other natural fibers, draft and spin on a wheel.

Skill Level:  No experience necessary.  This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as new spinners with limited experience who want to improve their technique.

Maximum Class Size: 10

Students to Bring: Wheel, if possible, but instructor will provide one if needed.  Please indicate on your registration form if you do not have a wheel.  Also, additional drive bands, spinning wheel oil, and medium hand cards if you have them.

Materials Fee: $10.00 (included in the fee are a variety of fibers to spin, handouts and sample cards, with a folder to organize your class samples).

Stephanie Flynn Sokolov is a fiber fanatic that loves to spread her contagious enthusiasm for spinning with everyone she meets.  She is experienced in teaching and motivating students of varying abilities.  She has a diverse background including, but not limited to, spinning, weaving, felting, dying, and shoemaking.  You are sure to find inspiration in any class she teaches.
